6th PHASA 2010 Conference

East London

29 November - 1 December 2010

Welcome to the 6th PHASA 2010 Conference

Conference goals

PHASA is a voluntary organisation of public health practitioners focusing on the prevention of disease, the promotion of health, and the improved functioning of South Africa’s  health care system. As an African public health association, we are committed to strengthening local and regional capacity in public health. We intend to use the conference both for  networking and skills-building among public health practitioners. PHASA has an active membership across South Africa which includes front-line health care providers,  representatives from various schools of public health, demographers, epidemiologists, health analysts and health economists. We are an important role-player in health issues in South Africa and have hosted a biennial conference since our inception. To date we have successfully hosted five national conferences, the most recent one in Durban in 2009.

PHASA is a member of the World Federation of Public Health Associations and enjoys good relations with both national and local Departments of Health in South Africa.
